Making your own body scrub at home with quality essential oils is easy as pie…easier, really. (I’m SO not a baker.) Just three simple ingredients + an airtight container, and voila! Simple sugar scrub. Here’s a tip, though – using a scrub like this this can make the tub or shower especially slippery. Take Sheldon’s advice and don’t break a leg – or dislocate a shoulder – due to lack of adhesive ducks.
The basic ingredients are sugar, carrier oil, and essential oils (optional). Here’s my go-to formula:
- 1/2 cup brown or white sugar
- 1/2 cup sweet almond or jojoba oil (you can use other oils – these are my favorites)
- 15-20 (0r more) drops of essential oil; my favorite oils/combinations:
- Lavender + Rosemary
- Wild Orange + Peppermint
- Citrus Bliss (a lovely mixture of Wild Orange Peel, Lemon Peel, Grapefruit Peel, Mandarin Peel, Bergamot Peel, Tangerine Peel, Clementine Peel essential oils and Vanilla Bean Absolute)
Mix, store in an airtight container, and enjoy! Use about a tablespoon or so when showering. Your skin will be silky smooth and smell SO nice!
This is just one of the ways I use essential oils in my daily life (yes, it’s true…I’m a self-proclaimed essential oils junkie). Please note that not all essential oils are created equally – quality matters, and I only recommend one brand.
